A complex scheme building a new staff and visitor accommodation, inclusive of new infrastructure in the south of England. The scope of works for J Humphreys Groundworks was inclusive of demolition, new roads, sewers, and foundations including new ducting and service routes, as well as alterations and an extension to an existing kitchen unit onsite.

A new housing scheme for 62 new dwellings on a green field site, in the village of Kerry on the outskirts of Newtown, Powys. The scope of works included all roads, sewers, foundations and service trenching, along with a 170m of offsite S104 drainage with a S106 connection, all within the existing highway, an existing STW main diversion and a Section 278 highway widening.

J Humphreys Groundworks Ltd carried out the civil engineering and groundworks on a new 73 bed care home in Newtown, Powys on behalf of J Guest.

The scheme entailed foundations, block and beam flooring, drainage, external finishing and new car parking works. The drainage was connected to the existing adopted network and was carried out under a section 106 connection authorised by the relevant water authority. Health and safety are of paramount importance and approved site-specific RAMS were adhered to maintaining the safety of our operatives at all times throughout the build process.

Identifiably in some of the above photographs we took, the external works were slightly variable, with flowing and none straight finishes, which the client was extremely satisfied with on handover of the build.

J Humphreys Groundworks Ltd carried out the civil engineering, groundworks and brickwork superstructure on a new Travellers scheme in Machynlleth for SWG Construction on behalf of Powys County Council.

The scheme entailed foundations, raft foundations, drainage, foul treatment plant, external finishing, complete with landscaping and new car parking works. 

The storm drainage was incorporated with the existing, adopted highway network and the new system was attenuated with a designated flow control MH which had a final discharge into the river through a new outfall incorporating a headwall and rockfill to minimise any erosion in the future. 

The separate foul system enters a designed Kingspan Klargester treatment bio disc, where the effluent undergoes the relevant biological treatment to enable it to be discharged into the existing watercourse. Again, Health and safety is of paramount importance and approved site-specific RAMS were adhered to, maintaining the safety of our operatives at all times throughout the build process.

As the photo’s exhibit J Humphreys Groundworks Ltd took great pride in completing the works throughout the notoriously wet, winter months, and we completed the scheme to a high standard.

J Humphreys Groundworks Ltd are currently carrying out the roads, sewers, foundations and finishing works on a new housing scheme in Allscott, Telford for S J Roberts Construction, on behalf of S J Roberts Homes.

The scheme is inclusive of 470 new homes, off-site traffic calming measures, S278 road widening for 1.3km, adoptable S38 roads and S104 adoptable drainage, including a new 7.5m deep pumping station.

The substructures on some phases within the build zone are designed on a vibro piled foundations, whilst others are traditional ground bearing. This is a combination of the encountered ground conditions and the cut/fill exercise which has taken place as part of the bulk earthworks and reclamation contract.

As we hope the photo’s exhibit, J Humphreys Groundworks Ltd are taking great pride in completing the works since the onset of the contract and with over 80 foundations installed in 10 months, along with the roads and sewers for 200 plots. The aim is to continue working progressively to ensure our client achieves their required completion dates and ultimately providing a high-quality end product and home, for the new owners to enjoy for many years to come.
